Our Goals: Our primary goal is to ensure that our teachers, staff and administration have the necessary resources to effectively educate and prepare our children for the future. The Meadowlark Elementary School PTA has established the following specific goals for the upcoming school year:
- To continue to provide necessary resources and materials to advance the school’s theme of science and math.
- To facilitate any technology upgrades that will benefit our students.
- To identify and secure community resources that will enhance our children’s learning experiences.
- To continue to find ways for meaningful parental involvement.
PTA Fundraising: Our main fundraising campaign early in the school year called “Pledge Week”. During this week, we ask that each parent pledge to contribute $50.00 per child. By contributing to Pledge Week, we can avoid asking our children to sell items door-to-door. This year Pledge Week will be September 28- October 2nd, 2009. During that week we invite you to have lunch with your child and to make a financial pledge to your child’s Meadowlark experience. Pledge Week raises approximately $15,000 annually for needed school resources and materials. We will need your participation to reach this year’s goal! In addition to Pledge Week we are planning fall and spring fundraising events. We look forward to seeing you at these events!
In past years, the funds raised by the PTA have been used to purchase:
- Smartt Boards for classrooms
- Guided reading tables for our classrooms.
- Digital Cameras and Printers for our classrooms
- Laptop computers for a mobile computer lab.
- Books and other literary material for the media center and classrooms.
- Performance risers for the auditorium.
- Computer tables, bookcases and other resource furniture for our classrooms.
- Playground equipment for the Severe and Profound class.
- Software programs.
- Resources for the creation of an ibook lab
- Additional laptop computers and projectors/carts for classroom use.
- Website license purchases/renewals for classroom use.
With this year’s fundraising dollars, our focus will be “Smart boards and Technology”. These monies will be used for purchasing additional smart boards and computer accessories for the labs and classrooms which will keep our students current with evolving technological trends.
